Default T56 jack

Now that I have removed and reinstalled my T56 way to many times with just a floor jack under the trans, what is everyone else using? A regular trans jack wont work because it is not a flat bottom. That bottom rib of the transmission is so annoying because it has to balance on that. So is there something out there that can be bought to use or rigged up? Pics would be good if you have something.

After trying it once with the floor jack and swearing far too much, I tried bench pressing it. It went much easier than I thought it would. I practiced a few times on the garage floor to get the feel for it and then went under the car. I rolled the transmission in on a dolly, slid it onto my chest and up/in it went. I've R/R'd three T56s this way since and it's been a piece of cake (using the floor jack to support while I took the cross-member bolts out and again right after I got it back in). I find it much easier to line up with the transmission in my hands.

Yeah, bench pressing it and sliding it in ends up being easier than trying to jack it up.

These shots might give you a few ideas.

jack has a strap to hold down tranny. I also use a floor jack under motor to line up = angle of engine & tranny.

this jack makes it a breeze (harbor freight)

Floor jack and a couple brothers/friends does it for me every time. That harbor freight trans jack looks VERY helpful.

I bet if you made a few, those would sell very well to repair companies and a few ls1tech people.
