Default M6 Short Throw

I have a stock z28 and I have the stock BIG ball shifter. I just ordered the SLP short trow shifter with a LSS stick and a Hurst grip. What Should I expect? I rarely race mabe alittle stop light but that is about it. I Hope a put a good combo together. Thanks for any input

You should expect shorter shift throws and a shifter that is or is not more comfortable.

The SLP shifter is really a stock shifter with a slightly better feel because the soft mushy rubber is replaced with either harder rubber or urathane if I recall correctly.

For $180 I would have went with a Pro 5.0 and cut the stick to the desired length personally.

Also take Hurst can often be found fro ~$50 to $100 and are good shifters compared to stock.

Just my .02

one of my buddys gave me his old hurst and I swapped it in for my z28 shifter. It sure feels shorter and alot notchier which I like. I still have the stock stick and the big ball though, I was thinking about the lss and the hurst know so post on how it goes.

its exactly what i have, i can tell a huge diff between the stock and the slp with lss, its the shortest ive driven so far, not a bad way to spend money, its cheaper than the 5.0

It is scheduled for delivery tomorrow. I can not wait to install and feel it. I drive from Miami to the Keys everyday (week day) so if it is what I am thinking it will be sooo NICE.
Oh I was trying to save money that is why I didnt buy the Pro 5 plus I have heard that it is loud.

Does it really sound like nails on a chalkboard (whine)....or more like gears spinning and gets quieter/louder depending on what you do? Do you hear the stick going into gear?
Thats normal, the stock shifter feels like crap cause half of it is made of rubber in order to deaden the sound of the tranny's machinery.
You might have a problem, but it is more than likely that.

What exhaust do you have??? I can't hear it much over the Borla with no muffler.
well if it bugs you that much, you can put the rubber shifter back on or maybe some southern ingenuity....
....I wouldn't mess with it personally...
The sound is carrying through the steel stick...so maybe you could wrap it with something(I'd be really worried about this though, might get in the shifter or such)

I have a hooker exhaust. It is loud though a loud whine but it seems once I am out of 3rd it is quieter. I dont understand why it is soo loud. I put a huge bead of RTV silicon on it and let it sit for 2 hours and then put it on and let it sit over night.

Try using some dynamat and trimming it some to deaden the sound.

I just bought the Pro 5 and took it out cuz it was so loud. I reseated it with RTV twice. A friend of mine told me to put some rubber washers in between the bolts that hold the stick to the base unit but I gave up and put my Hurst back in. You might try it though. Let me know if it works.
