How much "racing" can a stock car like mine take, in general? By racing I mean 2 or three 1/4 mile runs at WOT a week on deserted roads with friends racing each other? Did they build these cars to hold together well when no MODs are installed, or am I going to hurt my car? I know every car is different, I am just asking if I am being mean to my car. I always feel a bit guilty after running it hard. But yet it is so fun to run it WOT. I keep up on all fluid changes, etc. 48k on the car.

Thanks for any input, I am still learning these cars.

They hold up pretty good I think
I have 36000 miles on mine.
I probably have a well over 150 passes at the track , which is safer, and gets better traction. so the car actually sees a little more abuse.
I Very Rarely race on the street. if I do its not very fast.

I heat the hell out the tires(nittos) and pull up just before staging , I stop and pump the clutch 5 to 6 times and then stage the car. I bring the revs to 4500 and when the third yellow lights, I dump the clutch and hold the gas still at 4500 position. when the car starts to move forward , I give it all the gas. I have 4.10 gears in a 12 bolt and even done this for awhile on the 10 bolt with 4.10's without damage untill the Nittos got old and started to wheel hop. With 16 inch Nittos , I have pulled a best of 1.678 and backed it up on the next pass with a nother 1.678 at No Problem race way. On the 315x35x17's I have pulled lots of 1.70's and a worst of 1.75 at a bad track. I run 16lbs in the 16 inch tires and 19lbs in the 315's as they are on 9.5 inch wheels. My suspension consist of a Edelbrock tq arm, lakewood lca's and an air bag in the right rear spring with 9 lbs of air in it.
I also took my front sway bar off and this was the best mod I have ever done to the car for the 1/4 mile times. My car lifts hard when I mash the gas, some say it feels like the front is lifting when they ride in it as you cant see the road ahead untill it settles back down. It has not yet lifted the wheels but it sure will make you think it is.

It's unfortunate the stock rears in these cars are made of glass, I have a set of et streets laying around that I would like to try. I don't think the stock clutch would take a 5k rpm launch on them anyways.

I have a 02 WS6 with stock suspension and a set of 16 " ET streets and have cut a best 60.ft of 1.68, but I also broke the stock rear in doing so.The stock rear wont hold up to long doing this.First make sure your doing a short spin in the water then pull forward and do your burn out in 2nd(you need 4.10 to do this)gear to get the tires real hot then launch around 3700-to 4000 .You should pull a 1.7 60.ft

My 94 Z has pulled 1.64 60' times with the stock rear. I have broken it once but only because of severe wheel hop. I was trying out a set of new bfgs and on the very first launch, broke the rear. That wasn't the worst part, the rear shook so violently that it shoved the driveshaft up into the transmission, breaking that too in the process.

I wish first gear was the only problem. After that I have to deal with second gear. At least it goes straight now, but I still burn second gear up to the limiter about 1/2 to 1/3 of the time.
