Default Please share your launching technique

No matter how hard I try, I just can't seem to find the sweet spot on this ls1. I've tried launching from as little as 2k, which results in bad bogging, and 4k which blows the tires off. I've gotten the hang of riding the clutch out a bit and am able to get consistent 2.0 60' times on the street tires. Problem is when I tried drag radials, I couldn't improve on those short times. I tried going up to 4500 rpms and it only bogged the motor. I'm not willing to go to 5500 on the stock rear. What am I doing wrong? What else can I do?

get 15" et-streets, heat em up, take it to 6000, sidestep the clutch and hope the rear stays together.

thats what i do, but it's on a 12 bolt.

Keep working with the BFG's. Try raising the psi until you break the tires loose at 4500 rpm

I don't know but if you still have the factory aluminum driveshaft, when you hook with drag radials @ 4500rpm.You start a savings plan for a new one...

the best i have done so far is 1.78 on nittos but i can do a little better with some practice. the key is to get them hot and run about 15 psi. start a 4k and get off it quick. dont side step it, just pick your foot up quick. i havent roasted them yet but plan on trying 4300 next time. i have not broke the ds yet but i just bought some streets so thats going to hurt soon.

I've cut as low as 1.82 60' with stock rear, gear and driveshaft with drag radials. I leave around 45-5000 rpm buy dumping it and 14lbs in my BFG's.

WOW!
You need some gruntin, growlin, get-your-wimpy-***-outa-my-way, Bull dog sound effects to go along with that twisted shaft.

A gear will definately help with the bog at lower rpm. It makes the car much easier to launch. Just save your money and go with a 12 bolt or nine inch. I put a set of 4.30's in my car for a temporary fix. Made about 20 passes on nittos without any problems. On the way home from work last week I cracked 3 teeth on the ring gear. Luckily all of my nine inch stuff is paid for I am just waiting on the housing and axles to get here from billingsley.

On street tires I try about 3000 RPMs and I can let off fairly quick and move foward. I try below that it bogs out above that i get major spin and I gotta pedal it to get it moving. Then again I hardly drive my car.

I still have the stock driveshaft in my 10 second car. Cutting 1.50 60fts and launching at 6500 rpm and BARELY breaking ET Streets loose.

Just keep practing. If anything all the responses in this thread should show you each car is different.

245 555R's

Dumped at 3K will bog.

Dumped at 4K on the street will spin once, maybe twice grab and bog.

At 5k I'll lay down maybe a 10ft patch but the car is moving hard.

No track times yet, closed for winter.

Do any of you guys run with your front swaybar removed or disconnected? I know it worked pretty well with my '94, which is an a4, but how well will it work with the 6spd?
