Default MGW or Hurst Billet Plus?

I have a 2001 firehawk M6 and it did not come equipped with the factory hurst shifter. I wanted to get a hurst simply for the fact that hurst is a brand that GM uses as a stock option, but i have heard a lot of people on here raving about MGW. I was just looking for some opinions. What should i do?

Depends on what you wanna spend. The MGW will run more than the hurst. Also, which one you think feels better. I dont like the factory hurst. Dont ask me why, i just dont. Ive never felt the MGW either so i wouldnt be one to give advice on how they feel.

The Billet Plus Shifter is much better then the factory Hurst because of the billet collar positive stops and adj spring tension. I hear good things about the MGW shifter but I have no experience with one. I've had my Hurst Billet plus for almost 10yrs now. I added a Lou's Short Stick a few years ago and adjusted the spring tension to compensate for the lose of leverage. Never had any issues with it at all.

using a hurst billet plus for the past six months. i like it, using a ws6 store stick now but might go back to the hurst stick. real positive shifts and easier to keep track where you are because the springs pull the shifter real nice. if you use a metal shifter handle you feel everything(good) because everything is so stiff and tight.

I have the hurst in my car w/TNA short stick & it works well but if I changed my shifter I would go MGW....hard to explain how positive & easy that shifter feels!

How much higher is the billet plus than the stock shifter (non hurst)?

Not trying to thread hijack!

If you could that'd be great! Looking for an upgrade like this to go with my sway bars coming up (I know i'm upgrading in a weird order, but there's a method to my madness!). Not looking for a speed increase as much as something to make driveability better

I just switched from a b&m ripper to a mgw a couple of days ago. I will say that it is the best shifter i have ever had the pleasure of using.

My Car came with a Hurst shifter when I bought it, I ran that with a lou's short stick and Hurst classic ball for a while; I sold my Hurst and bought a MGW, it is MUCH better imo (even my mechanic likes it lol)

Anyway,
I run the MGW with a chrome ws6 store shorty and switch between a hurst pistol grip and slp **** all the time.

Hurst is good, but MGW is better

MGW with a WS6 store shorty!? Interesting, Didn't know you could change the stick with one like the WS6 store one? Got any pics?

i have had hurst billet, pro 5.0 and now i have the mgw and i will never buy anything but mgw again. It is a wonderful peice. it is pricey but its a night and day different and it is by far the shortest throw.

I've played with the Pro 5.0 shifter, the Hurst billet shifter, but not the B&M shifter, and NOW I have the MGW Fbody Shifter. It's a beautiful piece of machinery and it owns the competition. Hopefully in the future they willl become a sponsor on this site and future consumers will be offered a discount via the LS1tech membership code.

No pics atm sorry, only ones I have are with the boot installed. The mgw has a Clamp type stick mating assembly, so I just slid the ws6 shorty in instead and tightened it down some more

MGW w/MGW stick(first day with the new shifter):

MGW w/ ws6 shorty ( old stock boot, replaced with redline and rarely use that **** anymore)
