Default SSR T56 tail, yoke, bushing

I found an old thread on the yoke:

https://ls1tech.com/forums/manual-tr...yoke-info.html

but the part numbers don't come up with any hits in the online GM parts sites.

I'm looking for a SSR yoke, the tailhousing bushing&seal, and if possible, the tailhousing itself.

(Anyone know off-hand if a 32-spline TH400 yoke will match/mate the 32-spline SSR output shaft properly?)

TIA..

O.D. for PN 26055083 in this catalogue:
http://www.aam.com/file.php/254/Driv...2BBrochure.pdf
matches o.d. for 40032054
which is called a TH400 yoke at:

Nothing 32 in my garage. Verify and let us know.

Failure... The TH400 yoke has a .002" press fit on the SSR mainshaft.

On to plan B.

I'm withholding my "what if" and "if you only" thoughts for now. Thanks for the update.

I didn't want to leave this old thread around hanging, but the final verdict is YES, the standard TH400 yoke fits like a glove. All future posts related to this will be made into this newer thread:

https://ls1tech.com/forums/manual-tr...l#post13061590

and I won't be following this one. Just for the archives, a spicer 3-3-2431X fits the SSR to a 1350 u-joint.

The old "th400" joint I was given originally to test was actually very close, but not actually a slip yoke. It was a eliminator joint used on some older 4x4 transfer cases that fit older/worn TH400s, but not this brand new SSR shaft.

Do you still have the T56 out of the SSR? If so, what would it cost to purchase from you? Condition?

I never had one.. Please read the link in the post right above yours, and the write-up which was the outcome of that:

http://www.eecis.udel.edu/~davis/z28..._Fbody_T56.pdf

There are only slightly more than 2000 actual SSR-T56 units, but as the write-up tries to convey, you don't need one. You can get the same (or better) results with a GTO/CTSv/C5/C6 T56 core and a little effort..

thanks
mike

I'm not looking to put a '56 in a F body though.... I'm one of a few looking to put it in a TBSS.... 4800 lb SUV, and it the SSR trans is a direct bolt in in comparison to power-weight.

See the other thread. You may be working under an assumption that isn't correct. The SSR M10 T56 is not magic, there are mechanical reasons it's rated for use in the heavy SSR. You don't lose any strength in a SSR MM6 T56 hybrid. Your peeps over on tbssowners.com are not seeing the forest for all the trees in their way..

Milling a shifter pad just allows someone to use the dozens of different F-body shifters (Pro5.0, MGW, Hurst, etc.) available, instead of the one stock SSR shifter.

Changing the VSS reluctor between 17-tooth and 40-tooth is an easy swap, and can be accounted for in the ECM tuning if not.

The SSR input shaft is the exact same as the CTSv, for use with a stock dual-mass flywheel and large pilot bearing. Having a longer Fbody input shaft just allows use of any aftermarket flywheel/clutch combo, the F-body slave, and a regular (smaller) pilot...

So far from being an "idiot" and a "twit" to paraphrase the tbssowners.com site, I do know what I'm talking about and what I am working with..

I posted on the other thread and you might be better off with TR6060. The TR will be more difficult to make it "fit" into an TBSS but if you have the time and money...........

Did you know the SSR T56 and other T56 share "alot" of the same internal parts? Only big difference being the 32 splined main output shaft. You should really think about that...............
