Default Is there a way to distinguish between a Clutch Master cyl failure vs Slave cyl?

When I got into my car this morning the pedal only had “feel” (engagement) for about the bottom one inch of travel and when I had trouble trying to put the car into gear I pressed on the pedal again and there was no feeling or engagement. When I check the clutch master cylinder reservoir it was full and there doesn’t appear to be any leaks on the floor anywhere.

Is there anyway to confirm that it is either the slave or the clutch master before I start pulling anything apart? I hate to pull the transmission if I don’t have too! Idea’s?

I am using ’98-’02 F-body hydraulic’s, thanks.

Yes. Pull the hydraulic line fron the slave by pushing in the plastic ring /quick disconnect. Push (or pump up) the clutch pedal. It should be firm and hold. If it slowly sinks to the floor you have a bad master.

Sounds like the master took a ****. Either way your going to replace it even if it is just the slave. I say do the M/C see if that helps if not drop the trans.
