Default Which make/model/year had triple carbon syncros?

Hey guys, I'm putting a T56 into a RX7, and was told to look for a T56 with triple carbon syncros. Any info on which make/model/year that came stock with this would be greatly appreciated.

From searching the forums I think that the gto, late c5 corvette, cts-v have them????

They prob mean Triple Cone Synchros.

Carbon Fiber are aftermarket upgrades.

From GM, your list is good.

1997-2007 C5/C6 vettes
2004-2007 CTS-v
2004-2006 GTO
2005-2006 SSR

Only the GTO and SSR were setup like the F-body with a slip-yoke and direct shifter mount.

The Mustang T56s got them at some point also.

Trouble is, with your RX7's 4.10 rear, the F-body trans ratios are better suited than the stump pulling 1st gear of the GTO trans.
85MikeTPI has worked some magic before and put the C5 gearset in a F-body case. The C5 has the ratios you want, as does the F-body. The process sounds expensive but I bet when he's done with it, it would shift smoother than a wooden spoon in a bowl of whipped cream.
Your 2nd option would be to get the GTO trans and put a 03 Cobra diff in by using a custom subframe and custom axles. Around $3k
Your 3rd option is to use the F-body trans with your stock diff . Drive today and dream about tomorrow.

Not on v8rx7forum... im putting the T56 on a rotary =D

I was thinking of doing the IRS 8.8 as well, but I couldn't find anyone selling the subframe on v7rx7forum anymore.

Here's my build thread on rx7club: http://www.rx7club.com/showthread.php?t=853345

I've been eyeing this guys 8.8 T56 3 rotor project.

Yup, and beside the GTO-mainshaft hybrids, the above list I posted is the same list of donor transmissions that can be used for the SSR 800hp+ hybrid also:

https://ls1tech.com/forums/manual-tr...ock-parts.html

The C5 donors can get you the MM6 ratios, while the others are a little cheaper to hybridize..

Guys more help would be greatly appreciated.

So, I found a T56 for sale from an F-Body Camaro local to me, but am worried about some stuff. The company making the adapter plate is using a T56 from a 04-06 GTO, are the bell housings different? Also, what about shifter position, how much different are they?

This is what is done to the F-Body T56: "steel 3-4 shift forks, Carbon fiber synchro rings, solid synchro keys, all components match-fitted, blue printed, Performance shimmed, and new OEM bearings"

What do you guys think?

The bellhousings are the same (I think). The slave cylinders are slightly different, same part but different fittings. The GTO shifter is slightly back, around 2" closer to the tailshaft. The makers of the adapter plate to join the t56 to the rotary probably want the GTO so the shifter will be in the right place.
Many people convert the GTO shifter to the F-body, it should not be too expensive to buy their old parts and convert your new trans to the GTO shifter, like bolt-in easy. Sounds like a good transmission. Go for it. Much stronger than that weak sauce FD trans that is always developing the 5th gear grind.
I wonder what they do about the RX7 PPF. Probably use a Grannys trans crossmember and torque arm.
