Default McCleod twin disc ?'s

Me and a buddy are trying out figure his clutch out and have some question.

1- Does the slave need to be spaced out, if so how much

2- What tq do the pressure plate bolts need to be tightened to?

This is a used clutch, thanks.

As far as I know, McLeod does not require any shimming. You can go to their website and check their install instructions for more info.

1- We like to see .125" to .150" air gap between the fingers of the p/p and the bearing.

2- 35ft lbs on the bolts is good.

Billy..

Car is a 98 Camaro LS1, with a earlier Twin Disk setup. maybe 7 to 9 years old.

Does the Slave need to be shimmed behind the Slave, closer to the PP like Spec clutches ?

The car has an adjustable Master with I re adjusted, problem still exists.

Clutch peddle is stiff and the system has been bled. But still cannot get the PP to fully disengage from the clutch. Do you have a set of install instructions you can post or email.. Working on a Customers car, and I'm not sure if the Clutch was installed correctly, since it wont disengage completely.

Thank you regards,

Clint

The older mcleods needed to be shimmed to work right(disengage)Meaning the floater plate had air gap specs ect. The new RXT's don't.

To determine if you need a shim, you'll need to do two measurements.

1) from the back of the bellhousing to the tip of the p/p fingers. mark this as measurement "A"

2) from the face of the bearing when it's in it's most collapsed position to the face of the transmission where the bearing bolts up. Mark this as measurement "B"

3) subtract measurement "A" from "B" and you equation should be between
.100" & .300" if it's not you need to shim the bearing closer.
