Default Shifting from first to second

Sometimes i have trouble shifting from first gear to second gear maily at low rps but also at high. The skip shift light does not always come on and i have to play with the shifter to get it into second when it does this. I put a new spex 3 plus clutch in it. The trans is origional on the car and has 170,000 miles but everything else on the car is new. What could be causing this problem?

I was going to bleed my clutch again, this weekend. I'll do the mod were you cut panel, more than likely I'll replace clutch again, just seems like the easiest way if done correctly and only takes one person.

Was also thinking of doing drill mod, but seems like ppl have trouble with getting master off the firewall, probably save that for later date.

Just annoys me, all happy I get my rear in then having problems with clutch engaging, I've changed it already bout 8-10k ago to a centerforce. Hopefully its not the tranny but most likely it seems like it's something with the clutch.

I looked yesterday and my fluid lvl hasn't changed and when I did clutch I replaced slave but not master, hopefully I don't have to pull it apart again, that's just a pain.

How often does this happen? Does it feel like there is something physcially blocking your shift? Mostly from the drivers side of the transmission?

It feels like clutch isn't engaging correctly, I bleed the he'll out of it now it's worse than before. I did mighty vac way too but it didn't help. It's just rough getting into gears and now 4th grinds when I put it in. I'm almost certain I need a master cylinder, I have 10k old slave and clutch. I just hope it's not the trans.

And no shifter isn't on wrong lol

My friend had an issue where one of the pins in the shifter linkage in the transmission had come out. It caused it to feel like the skip shift was always a little engaged and you had to go around it to get into second. Took forever to figure out.

agood, since this is affecting a single gear it is highly unlikely that it is a clutch related issue. In instances where a single gear is affected it is more commonly the result of an internal transmission issue.

th3, you mentioned that bleeding actually made the issue worse which is not typical, though it is certainly possible that your issue is in fact hydraulic in nature. Haveing a week slave or master can lead to issue with fluid transfer and limit the force exerted on the bearing and thus the diaphragm fingers. Changing the master is much easier than changing the slave so it would make since to go that route first, especially if the master is still the OE part. Let me know if you have any further questions. Thanks,
