Default Transmission whine?

I believe it's my tranny and not my rear end but from third gear to six gear when throttled is applied it makes a loud whine or humming. Happens from 30 to 65 mph after that no humms and suggestions?

Can it be the pilot bearing?

Don't know what it might be, but it for sure isn't the pilot bearing. When the clutch is engaged, the pilot bearing and the tranny input shaft are at the same speed.

Is it the stock shifter? I know after I put my MGW shifter I noticed more whine in pretty much every gear, plus other drivetrain noises. I think it's just that it's more solid (less rubber, more steel) than the stock and I also had to slightly cut the boot.

If it's not just the shifter, I'm not sure. I would check/replace fluid if you haven't done it for a while and see what happens from there.
