Sweet, yes it is the same size and brand master that everyone uses. Wilwood 3/4".

TA-BUD, yes it is a new slave. I am using the one from an F-body cause I've heard the only difference between the GTO and the F-body one is a different fitting. And the fittings need to be swapped out anyway on this swap...

1. Hold the clutch to the floor, engine off, transmission in neutral.

3. With the clutch still held to the floor, engage 1st gear.

If it grinds, your clutch is dragging.

If it goes in easily, its the synchros in the transmission that are causing your problem.

This is awesome! Thanks so much!

Clutch in.
Start the car and leave the clutch in.
Put it in first, and it goes right in.
I did this several different times and all results are the same.

Clutch in.
Start the car and release clutch.
Then clutch in and try to put it in first and it grinds.

So basically once the input shaft gets spun up the synchro's can't get it spun back down enough to put it in gear.

I'm going to try some different scenarios of gear changes, but I think it's pretty conclusive at this point.

I never knew the synchro's did so much...

Hell I don't know.
I'm new to this stuff...

I should update this. Sorry it has languished.

^seriously...
The best transmission rebuild shop IN THE WORLD.

Apparently my trans was really bad. Like he hasn't seen one this bad in a while.
Required a new first gear.
3rd gear outer ring
4th gear outer ring
1-2 outer ring
1-2 inner ring

Example A

Said and done, I would not have done this any other way. TDP was supremely knowledgeable, beyond helpful, and bent over backwards to get me back out the door quick.
I can't recommend them any higher. Totally surpassed any expectations I had for them.

Back home...

Under the car...

Finally on the road...

So awesome!
