Angry Had to have my ws6 towed last night.

So out of nowhere last night I was at a light when I pushed in the clutch it got stuck down and all my gear locked up I couldn't put it in first or any gear then it died. I turned it on and tried again and then it went into gear and got to the next light then it happened again but it didn't die. I managed to get it to a empty parking lot but I have no idea what went wrong, the clutch kept getting stuck down and the all the gears were locked? Then I had a flatbed come and tow it to my mechanic. Does anybody know whats going on? The car ran and shifted perfect all day then this out of nowhere. When I talked to the mechanic in the morning and described to him what happened he said somethin about a hydraulic? I was out the whole night so I was to tired to remember what he said. Any info as to what's going on would be appreciated!

Clutch system on f-bodies is hydraulic, so there's a possibility that something in that system broke.

By "gears being locked", do you mean you couldn't shift into them without grinding, or you couldn't get the car into gear at all without it making any noise?

It wouldnt go into the gear at all it was like I was hitting a wall, no noise no grinding. I could move it side to side but that was it.

More than likely a clutch slave issue. 130$ or so in parts, unless you get expensive stuff.

Sticking Clutch Pedal Writeup.

https://ls1tech.com/forums/manual-tr...-write-up.html

Its a bit of a read, but well worth the time spent doing so.

My car had the clutch pedal stay on the floor for the first time just about a month ago.

I plan to upgrade my MC to a Tick Performance Adjustable Master Cylinder.

What I'd do personally is look in your fluid resavior under the hood next to your brake booster. If it is empty or very low it could indicate you are leaking somewhere, either the master or the slave cylinder. If that is the case I'd go under my dash and take a look around the Master to see if there is fluid anywhere, if not, look under the hood under the brake booster at the back side of the master to see if there are any leaks. If it is leaking anywhere I'd replace the Master cylinder unless it's obvious it's leaking somewhere else around it where it wouldn't need replacing, (aka, hose rotted and came off or line disconnected somehow.)

Here is a video of how to install it, and do the drill mod...
https://ls1tech.com/forums/manual-tr...der-video.html

If the master is not leaking anywhere I'd check the slave. Go under the car and see if there is any fluid leaking. If you can't tell you could fill the resavior and pump the clutch a few times then go back under to see if it's dripping fluid. If it is then I'd remove the tranmission and replace the slave.

Here is a video with some highlights from my slave install...
http://www.streetfire.net/video/lear...all_638399.htm

If neither is leaking I'd start with replacing the easiest, the Master, and then if that doesn't work, the slave.

If you are going to replace the Slave I'd suggest replacing your clutch while you're there if you are still on the stock clutch and it's a higher mileage car. I'd suggest an LS7 Clutch from tickperformance.com for $499. If you are or will be making nutty power look into the Monster "stage" clutches.

Not sure what good will come from typing up a detailed explanation, just pay the guy to fix it.
