Default F-body slave with GTO Transmission

I have a GTO T56 I'm putting in a 73 Firebird. Looking at hydraulics, do they use the same slave cylinder? If not are they interchangeable? Negatives to using an F body slave over a GTO if they are different?

Thanks!

Bobby

I know that the GTO uses a different slave then the f-body, I dont know what the difference is, besides about 100$ more in cost.

The only difference between the slaves is the hydraulic line that it comes on it and is just held in by a tiny roll pin. The GTO's comes out and points to the rear of the car. I have bought F-body slave for a GTO and just switched lines and saved 100 bucks. No problems.

Faceplated is for drag racing just as proshifted is and supposed to be stronger, they remove the syncros and make for a quicker more direct shift. Not very street friendly but people do drive them on the street.

Good description but they really arent difficult to drive. Anyone that can drive a standard can drive a face platted trans. Question is how fast do you really want to shift?

The slaves are all the same between the GTO, Corvette, and F-body. The fittings & bleeder valves are the only differences. Of course this only applies to 2004 and down. GM went to the green slave in 2005.

All we need is another smart *** on this forum. Back to the basics, 05-06 GTO's can use a F-body slaves.
