What is the avg price to get a t56 rebuilt?

I'm going to pull the trans myself, and I am located in the Chicago area.

If you take it to a shop it will probably be in the 1000 to 1500 dollar range.

I can do one for under 500 if it doesn't need too many new parts.
ie gears , synchro assmeblies.
