Here is the story. I am working towards installing a LS1 into my truck. Well, I ran into a guy that supposedly had his tranny rebuilt last spring but he and he couldn't keep the 3/4 syncros in it. Claimed he had a shop redo it for him. Well, he told me when it was rebuilt that he had a viper 3/4 fork put in it and such. Well, I got it apart and boy the carnage. This guy did more than just lose the syncros. The 5th gear is trashed, (how that happened I don't know) the 1/2 shift fork was cracked. The 3/4 fork was a stock aluminum f-body unit and it appears to be cracked. The only steel forks in the tranny were the 5/6 and reverse, which I think are steel to start with. To top it all off the stupid mother f-er that put the tranny back together didn't even put the magnets back in it so all the metal shavings were all over everything. The shift lever retaining bolts, one of them were broken off which may have taken the 1st gear on the main input shaft out, I have to get somebody else to look at it and see if it is bad enough to warrant replacement I only paid about $500 to have it shipped it to my door but take this as a lesson to you guys. Don't ever buy one of these trannies for anything more than a few hundred bucks if you know it is broken. Because they can have some serious problems and I mean serious. I'm gonna have close to $700 more in parts along with the syncro kit I have. Again be warned. Sorry to rant guys just needed to let it out. If sopebody wants to see pics PM me with your email and I will send them too you

If it is any consolation, you may have been mislead, but you didn't get screwed that bad. If you end up with $1200 in the tranny and it is rebuilt and ready to go, then you are in pretty good shape. A used tranny that is in good shape can go for $1200.
