What fluid are you running in your T-56 ?
I put some Dex IV Valvoline ATF in my old worn T-56 last year and it shifted so crappy I drained it after a few miles and switched to Pennsoil syncromesh which had such great reviews on here a year ago. I really liked the sycromesh allot better than the regular ATF Dex IV (since you can't get Dex III anymore)
Now I just got a stage 2 built T-56 from Jason in Texas and he as well as everyone on here is now recommending regular ATF again.
I may try to get some amzoil ATF but I am sure I will have to order it online since we don't have any stocking dealers.
Anyway what fluid have you had the best luck with? There are NO wrong answerers here just curious what works for YOU.

Mobil 1 ATF, for stock or rebuild, aftermarket, wat ever, just using mobil 1, and if some one say running mobil 1 atf will destroy their paper type blocker ring thing on their stock tranny, tell them fk off.

This question is asked almost daily.
Pennzoil Synchromesh. The same Synchromesh GM uses. Made the trans noticeably smoother. Stock trans though.
Probably because of the RP you used... :/

I have the t56 mag and it says on the side to use that "Dex" whatever - i have not filled it because it's not installed but most likely run Amsoil or Mobile - not even close to a stock application.

Any Dexron III equivalent will work fine. I've also used Pennzoil Syncromesh, it worked fine, but there was no difference between that and the Advance Auto DexIII I have in it now.
Smooth shifting is all about having a Tick master cylinder and keeping the clutch fluid refreshed often. It takes very little brake fluid to refill, and it's cheap, so do it. I don't bleed it very often, I just regularly change the fluid in the reservoir and that keeps it clean and shifting good.

I've been using just the regular castrol or valvoline DEX III ATF. I tried the Mobil 1 synthetic ATF and thought it felt rough. Maybe it was just me though, a lot of guys have had good luck with the M1 synthetic ATF...

why do you have to run atf in gm and ford manual trannys ? Honda transmissions use 10/30 motor oil and ive ran atf also ,, gm synchromesh ruined my honda trans ,,now i run 5/20 in my honda trans and it shifts like a dogbox !! im just curious to why you have to use atf ? i mean atf isnt a very good lubricator,, i even use a mix of non-detergent 30wt in my automatics with atf,, just dont understand the whole atf and hard parts .. anyone?
