Is the pedal consistent? Or is the effort changing at all? If you are riding the clutch out during release you can get some scuffing noises before the plate fully clamps the disc. Give me a shout at your convenience and we can talk more about it. Additionally it would be awesome to have a sound clip of the sound.

I just drove to the store and it's doing this real bad when I'm stopping with the clutch in

So you are getting noise when the pedal is depressed only and it is worse when stopping. I can't help but wonder if this is relative to a pilot bearing issue. If the shaft was binding on the bearing it would make noise and affect the feel of shifting too.
