Ls7 clutch in 02 ss camaro

The chevy dealership in my area says i can't put an ls7 clutch in my 02 ss camaro but other people i know said i could
can it be done and if so what all does it take to make it work

In all honesty, as great as folks make the LS7 unit out to be it is a stock clutch that still uses the less than ideal SAC-type ratcheting pressure-plate. For the money you could get a great Aftermarket clutch and flywheel that will give you better torque capacity and performance while eliminating the SAC pressure-plate at the same time. Our Stage 1 has higher torque holding abilities than the LS7 unit and it would still provide great drivability and easy use. IMHO if you plan on ever taking it to the track and are making any kind of power I would not advise getting the LS7 clutch. If you are just keeping on the street it will work fine.

I hope this sponsor doesn't mind me taking this quote out of the original thread:
Could be a bad tranny build. From what I've seen the LS7 clutch could of caused the problems too. About 80% of the rebuilds we do here are caused by LS7 clutches because they are not designed to work on the hydrolic system of the 98-02 cars. The clutch drags alot and causes the syncro's to grind.
