Ses light after redlining
#2: Hook the car to a scanner and see what code was thrown.
#3: Over-revving the car will bend the stock pushrods first. If you wish to neglect #1 and #2 above, then pull the valve covers, pop off the rocker arms, pull the pushrods, and then roll them on a flat surface (like a piece of glass). If they are not straight, then that is the problem. GM built the stock pushrods to bend to prevent F'ing up the rest of the valvetrain in this event.
Now, if you have aftermarket hardened rods....then your probs might be worse.............
BTW, if it makes you feel better I accidently threw the car into 1st instead of third when it was new and accidently over-revved it to 6900RPM (yep, it can happen), locked the rear end....and thought I toasted the engine. Anyhow, pulled the pushrods, checked everything, and NO issues. BUT, I did not have an SES light after I did that stupidity. I also replaced the stock shifter with a Pro 5.0 to prevent screwing that up in the future
