Default Spec 3 update break in complete

Yeah, I finally made it thru the break in period. All the chatter is pretty much gone. If I give it gas like stock clutch it will chatter but that is expected. This mo fo grabs n goes. I think its going to be the death of my 10-bolt as it is finally getting the full brunt of the motor. Good thing 9" is on the brown truck. Love this clutch. Very driveable, even in traffic. jsut takes a little getting used to.

You get a new throw out bearing, a new pressure plate, disk and that other small bearing- whatever it is.. This is a nasty clutch, so if you're looking for a quiet, easy clutch- look elsewhere.

Like stage I or II, or ZO6. I guess I should have been more specific. I guess it really depends on your current and planned mods.

I am on the fence deciding on getting this clutch also. How loud and hard is the clutch? I know it doesn't engage like the stock clutch but I am pretty sure you can adjust it to be close to stock feel with an adj master right? People say the clutch chatters but after some time it goes down, is that what your refering too when you say its loud.

All i can say is do your research first...see if anyone in your area has the clutch so you can drive it or at least ride in the car. I have the original design SPEC stage 3 carbon in my WS6(used to be in my SS before I upgraded to the RAM). I have heard that SPEC has since re-designed their Ls1 clutches...thank god. A lot of guys had issues with the old design, I did. My very first SPEC blew to pieces at 400 miles, during break-in on the Goodyear Eagle F1s. Luckily I had a VERY experience performance trans shop install it and they verified there was NO abuse at all(the flywheel had no heatspots or anything, just the disk fell apart). The shop contacted SPEC and explained everything; PSEC sent a brand new replacement and asked for the broken clutch to be returned to them. Once they got my old clutch back they called and applogized; saying they have not had that happen yet. They also said there were no signs of goul play or abuse, just a fualty part. Now, had I installed it myself, i probably would have been up shitcreek without a paddle. Anyway, when I sent my SS to Rapid Motorsports for the H/C and 12 bolt I had Mikey install a RAM clutch instead. since the SPEC only had about 700 mles on it I kept it and had it put in my Ws6 since it's stock clutch was getting really weak. It seams to hold ok but it's been making some noise lately and the pedal has been stocking to the floor(either a return spring or hydros). I personally would go with a RAM910/402 VDS clutch system if I were you. It has EVERYTHING you'll need: billet flyweel, clutch disk, pressure plate, throw-out bearing, brand new slave cylinder and brand new GM adjustable master cyclinder.

My opinion is the RAM VDS sucks with the 910 disk. I just ordered the stage 3 spec. Ram chattered like hell and became hard to shift. RAM says it needed more washers added under the pressure plate. thats bullshit. Flywheel needs resurfaced but the disk is fine.

I have tried out a Spec 3 clutch and I wanted one right away...if you can't push your little leg on the clutch than that's your bad. but don't be a bitch.. lol, but on other words...get the SPEC 3...YOU WILL GRAB...and I have the z06 right now...for what I have, that clutch can't even handle my setup... I'm ashamed...so I'm ordering my clutch next week..Spec 3 that is

I could barely tel the difference in pedal pressure between the stock and my spec 3 with adjustable master. Oh yea and what is this clutch break in stuff, I just put it in and drove it like it was stolen, 42 passes, lots of street racing, one broken rear end and 12000 miles later its still perfect! I will buy another one!

My Ram is great...My SPEC chatters A LOT more then my RAM. I have the 6130 disk(the 910 wasn't out yet when I got mine) and it grabs like there's no tomorrow. I like the RAM much better then the SPEC. My SPEC stage 3 carbon in my 00 Ws6 has a pedal pressure that is lighter then stock by far; I don't like that at all. I like the sensation of the stiffer pedal pressure and being able to feel there is actually a clutch there!

If you are going to redo your clutch get the slave upgrade and do the drill mod.

BTW, my Spec 3 is coming along VERY nicely. 'Best bang for the buck clutch. Pedal pressure feels UNchanged from stock. It chatters only when you let out the clutch at idle rpms.

So far I love this *****. I'm crossing my fingers that it runs well when I finally break it in and slam through the gears

I replaced 2 - Spec 3s in a very short period of time, they just did not hold up...now running RAM 910...

Was it the "older" Spec 3?

I'm trying to determine if the new release is better quality...
