Default How to tighten pressure plate bolts

Question for LT1 M6 car. How do you tighten the pressure plate bolts, properly?

Should I tighten them in a star pattern until the pressure plate is flush with the flywheel, then torque it? Or do I finger tighten them, and then torque them to 22 lbs? Is the pressure plate supposed to be flush with the flywheel?

Make sure the disc hub is toward engine, not towards trans. (sorry; we've all read threads on that about the Valeo PP)

Yes, the PP will be flush against the flywheel.

Wiggle the alignment tool up and down; try and hold it about 5/8 high on that range as the first bolt or two are tightened.

Tighten 12:00, 4:00, 8:00, 2:00, 6:00, 10:00 around the clock in that order. Setting them to a lower torque value (in that same order) first won't hurt a thing.

^ I have heard the same as putting a little pressure on the clutch alignment tool, pushing up a little while you get the first 2. I myself never worried about that but can't hurt.
