a year ago i had my 1998 t56 at the dealer for some tranny work........they replaced it with new fluid not sure if it was dexron 3 or syncromesh......im in the middle of installing my s60 and a new racetronixpump......with the driveshaft and rear out of the car, i started my car to see if the new pump was workingbefore i put the rear in.........i let it idle for a bit and a good amount of fluid came out of the rear of the trans where the driveshaft is....so id like to throw just a little fluid in it......but again, not sure if they used dexron 3 or syncromesh......if im only adding id say 4-8oz, can i throw either in?

That should be fine. Use the fill plug on driver's side.

Valvoline still sells a Dexron III/Mercon fluid. Many others have gone to Dexron VI which is backwards compatible in automatics.

yes brands, NO on mixing weights.

If it meets Dexron III specs, it meets them. Just pour it in and go.
