I believe the tailshafts are different? correct me if i am wrong

Nope. The front adapter plate, output shaft and rear cast tailhousing are the major external differences. If you have a 6 speed car to begin with, you're better off rebuilding.

JMD above hit it right on the head. There are quite a few differences. You would be better off doing a rebuild of your t56. Lucking we are know nationwide for our t56 rebuilds. Check us out on the link below. Prices include shipping to and from as well!!!
