Default T56

You need to replace from the input shaft forward. Input shaft, mid plate, bell housing and clutch fork. I would need to look but I believe I have most of the parts for this. Make you a good deal. I did this same thing but the other way. LT1 trans. to a LS1. It wasn't that hard if you know much about transmissions. Tom

I've never opened up a transmission before. I have my LT1 t56 to take all the parts from. I found an ls t56 for $400.
Is there any specail tools needed.

Default T56

No special tools. Google and get a manual for the both and check it out. Good Luck!

That is a smoking deal for an LS t56 if its actually in good shape. A core LS F-body t56 can be $500-800. You might just consider trading it for an LT1 t56, there are many people converting the LT1 T56 to the LS style. Im sure you can find somebody willing to trade you the bellhousing, input, and midplate if you wanted to avoid shipping the entire tranny.

just wondering if you were interested in selling or trading your LS1 mid-plate and input shaft i have a mint lt1 t56 that im trying to swap in and i need a longer input shaft to clear my clutch and throw-out bearing. im assuming your spare LT1 transmission is in unknown condition otherwise you would just be running that right? so if the tranny is bad how do you know if the input shaft is good? any ways if you do swap your parts i would be interested in your LS1 mid-plate and input shaft i have cash on hand and can pay anyway you feel is the safest for you.
