Default questions about magnum t56 in ls1 camaro

i called up tremec today and spoke to them about swapping a magnum in my car. they claim the trans in a direct bolt in with their driveshaft, relocating the torque arm, and buying thier offset shifter. did i misunderstand them? also they said everything else is the same ex slave, flywheel, cutch, bellhousing. this tranny looks like a sick deal its only 2800 for the trans rated at 700rwtq/hp, def seems better and cheaper then a rebuild. anyone have any good advice for me chime in please.

They do fit with a trans crossmember or tunnel mounted t-arm and a new driveshaft. Using an offset shifter makes the shifter move in an odd plane. The shifter moves up and down when you put that long of an offset on it. If you don't need a 700ftlb capable transmission I would stick to a built T56. Modifying a T56 Magnum to fit in an f-body correctly can become costly. Also the T56 Magnum is just a stock TR6060 inside. They are known for lacking shift quality at high RPM without some internal upgrades.

They probably forgot to mention they jumped the price up on the unit too. Tremec is ridiculous on some of it's price increases.

Then what do you guys suggest I can't afford to have my car down as its my only car. Also what's the prob with this tranny I thought it was one of the best and 2800 for a brand new trans doesn't seem like that much compared to rebuilds. I need a tranny ASAP I can't drive this car anymore its to the point where I hate driving, between the grinds and missed shifts and the noisy *** tranny bearings.

I believe the Magnums are $3495 now. The $2800 is last years price.

Don't be discouraged, Johnny! I've done it, and I'm glad I did

FYI, I did not replace my cross member to get the trans in there, just slotted it barely.

Yes, there's extra work to be done to get it in there. But when I sold my T56, I ended up with about $2000 into my brand new Magnum!
