2006 GTO T56 onto 98 LS1???

Default 2006 GTO T56 onto 98 LS1???

Found a deal on a T56 but Im not 100% sure if I can you a GTO trans without change out half the parts like an LT1 to LS1 Swap. Any help would be great.

The GTO trans will bolt in but you will need to change the offset lever. The GTO shifter is designed to sit further back than the f-body. So you will need to swap your offset lever from the f-body transmission over to the GTO transmission. Its very simple to do. You will just need a punch and a hammer. Drive the roll pin out that holds the offset lever to the shift rail and the offset lever will slide right off. Then just slide the new one on and drive the roll pin back in.

Below is a picture of the two different offset levers. The one on the left is an f-body. The one on the right is GTO.
