Clutch Selection for 370 LQ9 build (Monster, LS7 or SPEC?)
I am currently in the process of swapping a 370 LQ9 into my 2002 Trans am. The engine is currently almost done and now I am looking at clutch options. I am estimating the car will push around 450-475 RWHP. Now looking into clutches there are alot of numbers out there and I was wondering which one yall would reccomend. I have a couple options in mind:
Monster stage 2 or 3
LS7 clutch kit
I have also looked at the Spec stage 3 clutch.
Now the question is i want a clutch that is not going to burn out in the first year of me driving the car (I will be doing some runs at the track but mostly street and strip). Also I want to buy a clutch that is adequate for the power my engine will produce (Reccomendations?)
I also do not want to want to have the assembly balanced. The end goal is to be able to take it out of the box and install it and froget about it.
Also with the power levels im running would yall reccomend using ARP bolts or is it just plain overkill.
Also this car will not see any spray or boost.

i would recommend the monster stage 3, its a ceramic clutch that will take a serious beating, it is very streetable and requires no shimming, just take it out of the box and install it.

Based on your power output you could certainly use a SPEC Stage 3 but this wouldn;t be required. I have privided a link below and it includes capacity info as well as retail pricing and part numbers. You'll see that even a Stage 1 would be capacble of holding your planned output.
That being said, let me know what kind of usage the car will see (Street, drag, road-race, a combination of these) and I will be happy to provide a more thourough recommendation. Thanks!!

Yes buy a new slave to go with it..NO reason in taking the rest of the old one going bad. Just my opinion..I have a monster level 2 and I love it..Feels like a stock clutch and drives awesome. For your build though id go with a level 3. You can't go wrong with monster. The customer service is awesome, and the product is second to none!
