Default Wiring needed for a4 to m6 swap

I recently bought a 2002 trans am ws6 roller and it was an automatic and I have a totaled 1998 ws6 manual so we are going to do the swap for re manual. We have everything just that the mechanic that is doing it says that he want to change out all the wiring inside the dash??? I think he's crazy. Can anyone tell me what wiring parts I need?

if you already have an m6 wiring harness just use it, although rewiring the factory harness isn't all that bad

Does it require taking out the whole dash?

There is a thread on this but you'd be better off selling the A4 PCM/harness & buying a 99+ M6 PCM/Harness. The 98 harness wont work with a 99+ PCM. The 98's are the odd ball of the group. No dash wiring change required. If you swap the engine harness & PCM you only have to change the wiring under the hood & with the harness swap its all plug & play. thats the best route to take so everything still works same as OEM.

Here is the thread
