Default resurfacing the flywheel?

so after a night at the track, my 80k mile clutch is on its last leg. i think when it was breathin from the dark side of the moon really killed it so i was lookin at putting a centerforce or ram clutch in it. my question is, do i need to get the flywheel cut? i dont think it needs it but i wont know for sure til i pull it out. its my daily driver in the summer so i cant have sitting while the machine shop cuts the flywheel. also i guess it would be a good idea to replace the slave cylinder? and install a shim?

The flywheel should be resurfaced since it breaks in with the new clutch. If you have the money you should replace the slave. I think you can get them from Autozone for like $70 and they are made by AP, the same people who makes them for GM. You will need to measure to see if you need a shim. So to avoid downtime you could buy a shim set so it's ready in case you need one.

The shims are usually under 1/8".

Just get a new one or a new re manufactured flywheel. Cost me $50 from advanced auto with a coupon code for a new re manufactured. That way your not playing with shims etc.

If ya can afford a tick master it is worth every damn penny, its a must have part for these cars, the machine shop shouldnt have it for long at all just get it done locally if ya can, shops around here charge 50 to 75a to have it done

You should also get the flywheel and pressure plate balanced as a unit.

Agreed! Resurface (or replace the flywheel), balance the assembly, and check the stack height to determine if you need a shim. That should cover you!
