Default MGW F-Body Short Shifter Owners - What shift boot are you using?

Quick question for those of you who have an MGW short shifter. What shift boot are you using? For those using the stock boot, does the factory boot get in the way at all because of the height difference? For those of you that have a Redline boot or similar, how much shorter did you have the boot cut to compensate for the height difference? I emailed MGW and they said that the stick was about an inch shorter but that the handle on the shifter itself was larger than a stock unit and they werent sure if that would negate any kind of height difference. So after that response, I'm just curious what is/isn't working for the rest of you. Thanks in advance!!

Stock, but it slides halfway down and you can see the metal handle. Would like something that fits it well and tight. Subbed.

Does it really? That's disappointing. I'm wondering if Redline can fab something up that will fit well! Hopefully someone else who has real experience will be able to contribute. I'm still waiting on my MGW shifter to arrive - they were out of stock for a couple weeks when I placed my order a few days ago.

Have they called you yet? They called me the following day and told me it was going to be about two weeks before the would have more f-body shifters. That was Monday, so I'm assuming they will ship somewhere around a week from tomorrow.

Glad to see I'm not the only one asking the question about the boots - surely someone has a stock solution!

Hey guys, no pictures yet but I ended up pulling the trigger on a Redline shift boot that was shortened 1". In truth, 1" was no where near the right amount. It really needs to be 2-2.5" shorter, maybe even more. I have a TON of slack, even with the stick adjusted up as high as it will go in the orange housing on the shifter itself. Hope this helps.

Finally have pics. Angle was a little funny and made my shift **** look MASSIVE, but it gets the point about the shifter across that it needs to be WAY shorter in order to fit right. I may order another one or try and alter mine to make it shorter.

The boot. If the shifter is shorter, it's going to make an even bigger downward "hump" like you see surrounding mine. In theory, you want the shift boot snug and not bowing downward but also not so tight that it creates for problems for shifting. In my opinion, it looks like the shift boot from Redline would need to be 2.5-3" shorter in order to accomplish this. Just wanted to throw the information out there so those of you with an MGW can make a more informed ordering decision.

JD_AMG, interesting idea. So you literally just fold it inward until you reach the desired height? And I can't tell in the picture - do you have something securing it to the **** or is that just the stick I'm seeing?

Yep - just fold the neck into itself. Nothing holding it up, the silver you are seeing is part of the MGW shift ****:

Ok - I thought that might be the case. I'm going to have to try that! Could be an easy fix for the whole height thing. I suppose if you have the shift **** screwed down right on top of where it's folded, it should keep in place. Thanks for the tip.
