Is there any shimming necessary using a stock slave between an 02 LS1 and T56?

I don't see how a stock slave would work with this clutch, since it uses a flat diaphragm spring. In the picture that was posted there are marks on the spring (assuming from the stock bearing) and the bearing contact is way out from the tip of the fingers.

This clutch needs a radius faced bearing that makes contact as close to the tip of the spring as possible, and the bearing probably only needs .250-.300" of travel to achieve full release. But I am sure that Monster knows this....

The marks on that diaphragm are from the fixture that holds the unit together while we torque the internal pieces to spec. These do require a radiused face bearing and that is included with the package, we offer a piece that allows you to utilize the stock slave/bearing assembly.

The unit requires considerably less travel than that to release, but yes, we're very aware of what you pointed out.

In case you missed post #43 (forgot to quote you), no they do not require shimming and aftermarket master cylinders are not recommended either. These are hand built and setup per vehicle so you have no issues during installation.

Let us know if you have any other questions.

So as promised, here is the clutch. It just came in today. Pretty nice piece. It's almost a shame to install it. :-(

Anywho, I do have one question to SNL.

The last pic, the bolts are of different lengths. I'm guessing that the shorter ones go to the spots that have more thread, due to the boring for the alignment holes. I just want to make sure as they were not installed in any order as I had two long ones next to each other.

I am also curious if a piece with sprung hubs will be offered?

Is it common for these to require a steel alignment tool?

I'm using the plastic one and the having alignment issues. Just did a DD install on my dodge diesel and ended up taking out the input shaft and using it as an alignment tool. Seems the DD clutches are much harder to align then the single discs.

On our twins, I haven't had any problems using the plastic tool we send with the kit. But if you have access to a input shaft then by all means use it hahah

Oh boy, just ordered mine today! Stock clutch has been slowly dying the last few months. Hopefully a level 1 will be the last clutch I ever need to buy.

Thank you Monster for the stage 2 twin. I have 2000 miles on it and it feels great. Been to the dyno and put down 775 rwtq, and 690 rwhp. It held no problem and I love it on the street manners. I put 50 mile a day on it half freeway and half downtown stop and go driving. This thing has been the best clutch i have had bar none.

No fair....I think your is greener than mine. :-p

Edit: I've also got mine installed. I have yet to drive it (due to my exhaust not fitting from other changes made) but I am using a 5/8" wilwood M/C instead of the usual 3/4 or 7/8 that most use for the RX-7 swap and I must say...me likey the pedal. It's softer than what I had. I had talked to Steve about whether the fluid volume of the 5/8" was enough or not and after measuring the throw we decided it would be fine. And it was!
