Mating up a LT1 T56 to a LS1 motor? Worth it, cheapest way?
I can get a 95 LT1 T56 for 1450.00 I want to mate it to my 07 LR4 4.8L V8. I am currently running the 98-02 Camaro clutch fly-wheel setup, and the CTS-V pilot bearing, a 3/8"quick time bell-housing spacer mated to a stock Colorado 5spd transmission.
If I bolt the tranny up as is, I just leave one bolt out, and the input shaft is shorter? By how much I heard 0.4" using the large CTS-v (back pilot bearing/ball bearing) might allow the use of the shorter input shaft. if I need an extra 0.4" can't I use the 0.4" flex-plate spacer that some Gm automatics had between the crank, and the fly-wheel? I could also get a longer pilot bearing.
What about hydraulics is my only option to use a mecloed universal internal hydrolic slave, or could one just drill and tap two holes to mount the stock 98-02 F-body slave to the trans mid plate?
What is the difference between mid plates is the actual bell to mid plate bolt pattern different?
Are there any threads or how to's out there to aid me? Thanks!
