Ok so im building a 6spd drag car. i bought this car with 3rd 4th and 5th gear problems. pulled it apart last night and found that all the plastic shift fork pads were broken or missing so ill replace them with brass ones. 5th gear syncro is done for, the gear part of the syncro is really rounded. 4th gear is starting to round figure it best to replace that gear too. 3-4 syncro is done as well. 3rd gear is starting to round. 2nd gear is ground to a taper but im not having problems with that gear still gonna replace. 1st gear looks good reverse is good. im having issues getting the 5-6 gear off the shaft tried heating a little but i dont want to break teeth off of it trying to pull it tihinking about taking it to a trans shop to have it removed. so far thats around $1000 in parts. is this worth a rebuild i want to make it stronger while im in it. any sugestions on what to do? and no i dont want an auto.
