Default 99 vette T56 rebuild question

I am rebuilding a t56 and I have a question. I have the main case reassembled and I'm in the process of assembling the 5/6 and reverse. section. I have the 5/6 driven gear on and am ready to put on the reverse synchro. There is a thin plastic ring that's a little bigger than the main shaft. I think it goes on one side or the other of the synchro. It's not the thrust washer that goes on top of the reverse gear because I have that. The reverse key retainer and the blocker ring neither one touch this piece when it's put on the reverse hub so I'm kinda at a loss... I'm not sure if I even need it. The only plastic piece I know of is possibly the thrust washer that can be plastic on top of the reverse gear? Any insight is greatly appreciated! Attached is a picture. The piece I'm talking about is the top left.

Goes on the synchro hub between it and the Rev gear.

Thainks Mike. Any idea what it does? It doesn't look like it touches anything

Reverse blocker ring is spring loaded because its a single-sided synchro and the washer just keeps it from wearing on the hub.

OK got the transmission back together and everything looks good. It shifts into all gears and reverse works as it should. Only thing is, I had to remove the shift rail spring because I dropped something and couldn't get it out. I'm afraid I might not've installed it the way it was because I can push the lever over to 1-2 position and it is hard to press and when released it snaps right back to neutral position. When I move it to 5-6 or reverse, it's easier to push over and when released, it stays there. You think I could've installed that spring wrong to cause it not to pop back to neutral? Thanks for your help.
