soft clutch problem

Default soft clutch problem

i have a 2000 formula firebird ls1 6 speed, the clutch is soft. it only has like 3 inches of movement from the floor, when shifting fast all gears grind, and reverse is almost impossible to shift into. it doesnt slip or anything once engauged though. i dont know much about these cars or transmissions in general so any help is appreciated. thanks!

The first thing I would suggest is checking the fluid in the reservoir. Is it dark or discolored? Even if it looks ok I would try bleeding the system to insure that there is no air present. Air would affect the way the fluid moves between the Master and SLave Cylinder and limit your ability to maintain proper pressure within the system. If the fluid looks bad then go ahead and do a full flush and refill. Let me know if you have any further questions and I will be happy to assist you further. Thanks!
