Need some guidance on my t56
Ok bought a t56 tranny to mate to my ly6 block in my 67 nova. After treading into the tranny I noticed the bearing is "welded" to the main shaft. Where is the best place to replace what I need? I also need to figure out what fly wheel to use and if I need a pilot bearing? I'm thinking a stock clutch will be fine unless I can get a better aftermarket piece for around the same price? The engine will have some bolt ons so looking to make 450 rwhp just for street use. What company should I contact that is not gonna run me though the ringer? Again I'd like to buy all this from one source.

My T5 on my 3.8 required a pilot bearing. I feel like the flywheel just needs to match the clutch and transmission. If its a borg and warner t56 i would think any clutch kit/flywheel made for the LT1's would work.

Wondering if I should stick with oem stuff bc its cheaper and with just a cam I'm not really going to be making a ton of hp? Also whats a good way to tell the yr so I can rest assured I buy the correct parts?

Wow, that's not very common to see. I've seen units run bone dry on fluid, welding the small pocket bearing on the tip of the mainshaft to the input shaft but that bearing still looks fine. I would suggest closely inspecting the rest of the bearings and replace them if there is any question at all.
As for the clutch, 450 rwhp is a decent amount of power to expect a factory clutch to handle. Even the OEM guys will use a twin disc setup like the ZR1 and the GT500 use.

That's kinda of what I was asking... What trick can I use that will be on the lower end of my budget to get thus tranny up to par? I have around $600 to use toward making it work that includes clutch, parts, and fly wheel, etc... I also still need hydrolics, shifter etc.

$600 isn't going to get you very far at all. A bearing kit alone typically runs about $140 give or take. A clutch kit with flywheel is going to run around $600 and that doesn't include the slave cylinder or shifter.

Slave and shifter are not included in my $600ish budget... I asking a out parts to make work and was wondering if aftermarket was reallyy only option of if ppl were using oem parts that where within budget and would be sufficient?

I bought all oem stuff, got a flywheel, slave cylinder, and clutch kit for $260. It prob wont handle that motor, but it gives you an idea. I dont see th eneed to spend $600 on clutch parts.

A monster stage 2 clutch kit can run you about $725 for a slave, 18lb flywheel and gm flywheel and slave bolts. It's rated at about 550hp/tq

Look at this group buy https://ls1tech.com/forums/sponsor-g...31-2012-a.html
But is this something I need for street driving or can I save a $100 and buy a ls7 kit for $430?
What's my best option for street driving? I don't want chatter, or another issues as this is a pro-touring street car.

Most people use the ls7 clutch and see it blow if they start power shifting it and having some spirited driving. Not to say that everyone does but the general consensus on this forum is to spend a little extra money and get a more reliable clutch, with the group buy on a stage 1 monster clutch you're looking at around the same price for an ls7 clutch, and you can add the small little goodies like a light weight flywheel, a slave cylinder and bolts right there and have them all come at the same time. If I had the money to replace my clutch right now I'd be jumping at the opportunity to get in on that group buy

Ok so the next question is... Are all slave And master cylinders the same? Which do I choose for my street car? I don't have pedals yet either so not sure if that makes a difference in my decision?

I was looking at a pedal assy like this from wilwood. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/WIL-340-3950
Would I need to run a wilwood slave cylinder or can I get a universal when I buy the clutch ?
