Default Drill mod or Spec Stage III?

Well, I have a feeling the answer to this question is choice two, but I'll ask anyway. I made my first trip to the track with my TNT 100 shot and it didn't go too well for the clutch.

I wasn't able to make a full pass because the clutch would get stuck to the floor and the car would NOT go into 4th gear. Running N/A it will get stuck to the floor, but not bad enough where it won't go into gear. I guess the extra 100whp is a little too much for it.

The clutch is fine a few seconds later, so its not a huge issue on the street. But I do like to make trips to the track so I'll have to do something. My question is this: Will the drill mod help enough to get me by? Or would it just delay the inevitable, or possibly not even help?

I sat in a car that had the Spec Stage III and it seemed pretty decent, not tough to push. Or would you possibly recommend a Stage II for daily driven use? Would it hold up ok?The car makes 430whp/550wtq on the spray.

Thanks,

Tim

Stage III works great for daily driving. While you're putting in the clutch, go ahead and do the drill mod while your there.

Drill mod is not optional in any case. You must do it for the clutch to work right. Period.

Tim,

Spec Stage 3 is a great clutch and i'd reccomend it for your application. With your 2000 you should upgrade the hydrolics to '01+. That will help with the sticking to the floor issue. However with the extra 200lb+ft from the spray, I doubt the stock clutch will hold up for very long, regardless of hydraulics. So my vote is to get the spec and upgrade the hydraulics all in one shot - might as well do it while you've got the trans apart.

So is a new flywheel also a necessity? Looks like the price keeps going up since I need the clutch, flywheel and upgraded hydraulics.

just did all of it on my 2000 and dont regret it one bit, drill mod, spec3 and updated hydrolics no slippage at all and after seeong the factory clutch glad i did it when i did . the spec has very little chater and is getting better everyday.
get the balanced setup with flywheel , new hydrolics (master and slave) some 2000's have the old master some have the new. so you might luck out but dont know.

my belief is do it once do it right spend the little extra now and save the hassel .
some will say turn the flywheel . not for me though.

Some 2000's have the updated hydraulics??? Is there any way to tell. I can tell you for a fact my car was a VERY late 2000 (built 6/00). I also have the breather tube on my airbox that only the '01+'s are supposed to have. The less money I have to spend right now the better.

yes, some have new setup some have old, you may be all set slave but not sure, master probbly just drill it. i think the slaves it has to do with the way they lock into the hose and the bleeder set up. mine was old but was an early built car. if you get the slave from a sponser see if they will take it back if you do not use it or if you go to dealer let them know your situation(just a warning most will be like wtf do mean 2 designs????) its hard to find good parts guys that know this stuff the slave p/n is 15046288 list is around 160 i belive depends on your dealer and if they wanna be nice. most sponsors have it for less and atleast have a clue to the racing scene. and i think all 2000's have the breather mine does and was an early build. its all piece of mind too
