I am restoring a 1970 Chevy Nova SS. I just got a LS1 engine from a 2000 camaro and now looking for a transmission. Can someone recommend a good place to get a new or rebuilt T56 manual 6-speed transmission?

There are several qualified builders out there. Your issue is, since you do not have a core, the price for purchasing a rebuilt unit, even a stock unit is going to be close to $2000. For a littler more, you can purchase a brand new T56 Magnum.

I've been looking all over local for a used trans can't seem to find anything local for under 1700 its crazy guess they are getting really hard to find.

I got mine locally in perfect condition for $1000, had to drive 400 miles round trip to get it though. Lots of T56's are for sale in the for sale section, built and stock. Just keep searching every day.

There is one with an excellent price used in the classifieds right now. It is completely rebuilt and a pretty good price. Wish it was listed on here before I just had my t56 rebuilt.
