did my clutch get hot enough to crack
this is a mcleod strap drive 8 inch setup with dual sintered iron disks.......had it it the car for about 3000 miles......has not ever been launched yet nor shifted that hard at all......i took it to ocean city last may and did a the stop and go boredom down the strip a day or two......then next day did stop and go traffic for 2 hrs on the way home......so i know it definitely got hot during the stop and go from all the slipping but does it look hot enough to have caused a crack in my disk? the other puzzling thing tho is that there are multiple smaller cracks all the cracks are almost identical in starting point and all go towards the middle of the disk.......i also included some up close pics of the worst spots on the floater pressure plate and flywheel. i believe this was the pressure plate side that cracked.......also the other disk looked just fine. basically i ordered 2 more disks and just wanna make sure this doesnt happen again. this is why you need a shatterproof bellhousing kids.

also i drove it for about 1500 miles after ocean city with spirited driving no issues........i was doing some wot pulls and went for second and thats when the problem of no shifting occured. the two last presure plate pics are of the discoloration on the inner lip

contact McLeod tech and discuss. "why" the disc failure in that area is concerning.
your note on high RPM shift issue may be hydraulic related. I know on my Twin McLeod had a larger MC (13/64") and braided line included in the kit.
Stack height on install is important to maintain the shims in the exact order the unit was delivered in.
The cracks, to me, would be more from shock load than heat but your noted driving does not suggest high RPM dumps....which that kind of clutch should handle if you did.

Yea a new bell housing us going in......but theoretically metal heating and cooling rapidly could cause stress cracks......and every time you start from a stop it obviously slips a little even when you let it out quixk since you don't wanna slip iron a lot.......so all that slight slipping in traffic did generate heat......but by looking at the discolorations on the pp and flywheel, does it really look like heat caused those stress cracks? And no shims were used unless that's wat those things on the floater disk are used for

And talked to McLeod and sent the sane pics I posted......all he said in the email is " yea that thing is cooked. It would be in your best interest to send everything in for a rebuild. 550 plus shipping " wtf he still never even attempted to answer why this may have happened that way I can prevent it from doing it again
