Need help deciding on a clutch
So I have a 4.8L and a tr6060 out of a gen 5 camaro going into a S13 240sx. Its going to be a turbo setup and im figuring ill make around mid 700hp/tq at the wheels. Car is gonna be mainly a street car with a little bit of drag racing. I dont care about how stiff the clutch pedal is but my main concern is having the clutch chattering and being to aggressive for the street. I have seen similar setups with the 4.8 make a little over 900hp so to be on the safe side I figure I should get something to hold around 1000HP/tq. What are peoples thoughts? Twin disk,Triple disk, or a normal 6 puck would be fine?

I was gonna run drag radials... Basically I need to see whats gonna work and give me traction at that power levels. Still need to research more.
As far as a budget I wouldnt like to break the bank but if I had to spend the cash to have a smooth riding car I definately would. It is mainly gonna be for the street.

I believe we spoke on the phone about our 11" Ceramic and may not have mentioned it went 9.3 in "blue99fbody" and has held 1111rwtq on our dyno so possibly could be underrated Our twin would provide a softer pedal, but being that it uses twice as many friction points over a smaller area it will not last as long all things being equal. There is always a trade off just like with a cam, Chris

I've herd very very good things about the McLeod Rst/Rxt Twin Disc
Guys on the Vette forum have nothing but good things to say about them and I as well am putting on of these 2 in my own Zo6

We did speak on the phone and you guys were great help. My main concern is having clutch chatter. The motor and trans are rubber mounted as well. The "light switch" feel is kinda off putting too. But like you said if your gonna make power their is gonna be some sacrifices. lol
Also if the car saw 5k miles a year that would be a lot, most likely around 2-3k miles because I live in Rochester NY

So I think im gonna go with the ACT rated for 970rwtq but I'm not %100 yet I wanna talk to them and look into the mcleod twins. But the ACTs seem very reasonably priced which is nice.

SPEC Stage 3+ would be a great option on the single-disc side of things. Or, you could opt for one of our Super-Twins. Either options would provide plenty of torque capacity and great drivability. Give me a shout before you buy and I will be happy to assist you. Thanks!

Have you seen any real world results with the ACT? You mentioned earlier price wasn't your only motivation, just don't want to see you having to spend money twice.

monster all the way their customer service cant be beat. my 11" drove great with no chatter once you get a feel for what the clutch likes. held up to prob 300 1/4 passes @ ~800whp and street time before going into my bolt on daily driver for a twin to go in the other car. my wife would drive the 11" all the time with no chatter or issues. the twin is a great option as well. just went 9.09 on the level 2 twin

My $.02 is McLeod which is what I have
IMHO I would stay away from ACT
McLeod offers it's twin in both full face organic disc and ceramic puc type (more aggressive) aka RST & RXT

Hows that Monster as far as clutch pedal feel? is it hard to push in or soft like a OEM clutch?
Did ya have to use a Tick Master?
Im in the market for a twin disc myself

So with some more research and this thread I have decided to stay away from the ACT, that being said I'm tossed up between the Monster and McLeod twin disks.
Has anyone made big power on any other clutches? Any race results or success stories. lol

imo stay far away from spec, they wont hold upto there product if something happens, trust me my spec 3 plus lasted 2 months of just everyday normal driving,it was shimmed correctly ,pro installed that deals with spec ,and break in was done to a T,after spec told me there was nothing they could do about there crap clutch i got a monster stage 3, have not had one issue, monster will stand by there product, and trust me i have found out that i wasnt the only one that had issues with spec ,spend the extra cash,i will also add that the ws6 store went beyond out of there way to help me,they are beyond stand up people over there,

ill also add the monster feels great, and the guys at monster were backed up at the time, but once they heard the issue a 4 week wait time got to me in 6 days, some people have had great luck with spec, thats just what happend to me,good luck man ,like i said my monster has been beyond great, not one issue
