Default NV3500 with external slave cylinder

Anyone running a NV3500 (up to 95) with passenger side external slave cylinder on an LS engine? Any clearance issues? Mounting issues?

Did you ever get your problem worked out? I've been researching this. From best I can gather, the S10 and the full size NV3500 have different slave cylinder mounting on the external versions of these two transmissions. There will be slave cylinder to oil pan interference if you don't have the correct version.

The bell housing on the NV3500 determines the slave cylinder. There are like 4 or 5 bell housings that mate to it.. I think NOVAK adapters lists the various combinations the 4x4 crowd uses..

Any chevy fullsize Nv3500 96 and up will bolt right up to an LS style engine. It uses the same style internal slave and it will come with a 32 spline output. However, this is a 10 spline input shaft and the clutch disk will have to be changed.

I'm putting LM7 into a 92 truck that has NV3500 with external slave and have been beating my brains out trying to figure out the correct GM release bearing to use. The NFW1050 flywheel sits .23" closer to the engine than the stock one did on the stock 5.7. So the clutch now sits .23" father away from the release bearing. I bought a 1377c bearing but it looks way too long (.6" longer than the stocker I think, so .4" too long?). Is a little less than quarter of an inch (.23") even worth worrying about being a hydraulic clutch? I really wanted to put the engine in once and be done, but it looks like I am going to buy the Novak adjustable release bearing and have to do a mock up. Unless I get some good info about the stock release bearing being .23" short as negligible, or a GM bearing part# that is the correct length. Honestly, I'm not really liking running a convex face bearing where a flat face is needed either.

Edit: Ordered a McLeod adjustable. How it took me literally a week to find these baffles me. I think anybody who runs this trans is more worried about cheap that right. Dunno.

I am manual/manual swapping my 2001 reg cab stepside z71 out of pre 95 parts including building an all metal clutch assembly and I've ran into the same problem I used the sachs 1050 flywheel and a clutch for a 2001 4.8 with the nv3500. I've also got a Novak adjustable throw out bearing that according to the way they want me to measure still isn't long enough. What did you do??

will bolt right up to any ls engine with external slave I did this already. Only thing is you need a longer push rod for the slave cylinder and get all clutch parts for a 4.8l ls and a 1377c throw out bearing

hey man I really appreciate this info. Do you by chance have a part number or idea of what pushrod I need for the slave cylinder?? I’m doing a 4.8 to nv3500 with the external slave. Thanks for your input!

Swap
Would the 1377c cure the issue of the clutch not getting released?

Hey saw ur project, I'm doing the same thing on my avalanche but with a 5.3 and a 1995 nv3500, but I'm having a problem with mine, I have used the same parts you are using including the novac release bearing, after assembly I have a hard clutch feel and a release bearing noise when clutch not engaged, I'm pretty sure my clutch is being destroyed, how did you do your set up, also did you have to use a different push rod on the slave cylinder, I need help, any assistance would be greatly appreciated, Thank you.
