Default Another Vibration Problem

Hope someone can shed some light on this one.

I have a REALLY bad vibration right between 65mph and 75mph. Doesn't matter what gear I'm in, or if it's in neutral. But it is worse on decelleration. The only thing I can think of is the rear tranny bushing, but the seal isn't leaking yet. If I speed up to 100mph, and let off, it doesn't start vibrataing until I'm back down to 75-ish, and then it comes on sporatically a couple times before it steadily shakes the whole car until down to 65-ish. Driveshaft is ok, rear seems fine (Moser 9"), axles are ok, and tires are good.

Any ideas, or has anyone seen this before?

How about pinion angle?

I've had the pinion angle between -2 and -4 with no change.

Can you tell if its coming form the front/middle/back of the car? Are your wheels balanced. Can you feel it in the steering wheel excessively, might be in the front which is usually worse. I'd say balance your wheels/tires and make sure there are no odd wear patterns. Might check your lug nuts to make sure they're all tight. Other than that the only thing I can think of is an allignment/worn bushing issue.

Can you feel the vibration in the shifter? Then it's a U-joint or the driveshaft.

None of the above. Shakes through the chassis, so it's driveline related.

Rotate your tires ( unless they aren't the same size ) and see if the steering wheel starts to vibrate. FourthGenSS probably hit the nail on the head about the tire balance.

As I said.....it's none of the above.

Anyone with some T56 expertise?

How did you come to this conclusion?

The only thing I can think of is the rear tranny bushing, but the seal isn't leaking yet.
Have you checked the tail shaft bushing yet?

You have to at least eliminate some of the possibilities or we can't help.

Too late. I've got the extension housing off and it appears to be the bushing. Thanks though.

And I did say all the rest was ok in my first post.
