Clutch slave shim advise
Working on a C5 setup and need advise on the slave preload and clearance specs.
Clutch is an ACT twin t2s-g01 i believe and gm slave with tick master. I have the 0.055" shim from tick but not sure if i need it. Here are the measurements with no shim:
Measured from torque tube face to slave bearing...
Slave extended = 2.890"
Slave compressed = 2.200"
Total slave travel = 0.690"
Transmission side bellhousing face to clutch fingers = 2.460"
Preload = 2.89-2.46 = 0.43"
Bearing clearance = 2.46-2.2 = 0.26"
I have read that for twin dics clutch wear you want 0.2" min. So if i use the .055 shim clearance is .205" and preload is .485". Any help would be great, thanks.

The main focus here is to ensure you don't bottom out the bearing when compressed and not over extend when actuated.
The rule of thumb here is .125-.200" cushion to ensure maximum bearing travel.
Cushion: space between bearing compressed by clutch fingers and bottoming out the slave.
