Where to get a T56 Magnum?
Where are people getting T56 Magnums? I'm looking for one made for an Fbody that will be going in a '90 Silverado. However, GM seems to be the only place to find one... I thought Summit, Tic, or someone else was selling them, as well.

Got to get it made to fit the F-Body, T56 tail shaft needs to be fitted to the Magnum to make it fit.
Google image the two boxes & you will see the differences.
Tick will do the tail swap for you.

If you need an F-Body fitment, then it needs to be a custom built unit.
eg Tick, RPM, D&D etc
If its a new conversion then you could buy any of the off the shelf Magnums.
Tremec dont, and seemingly wont be doing a Magnum direct fit for an F-Body.
Also consider the RSG Tranzilla for F-Body T56 fitments

Dan, the added cost to get into an F-body fitment Magnum is going to gain you:
shorter length
a single rearward shifter location (that I don't know is beneficial with a full-size)
And not much else; the Magnum has the VSS you need IIRC, and would require a driveshaft shortening.
That and crossmember mods should come out reasonable in $ vs. going the conversion route.
Maybe you had something in mind that would make the f-body fitment converted Magnum more ideal that we don't know?

maybe a little off topic and I apologize for hijacking but just curious is it possible to get a magnum but with the mm6 gear set? I see 1-4 is the same on the magnum but 5th and 6th are not? Can you get one with mm6 1-4 and .5 OD for 6th gear? The .5 6th I see comes with the m12 gear set.
Also if one has a donor fbody t56 could you use some parts like rails, tail housing etc and convert a cts-v tr6060 to fit an fbody and make 5-6 .74 and .5 or rather a 13 gt500 trans which has the complete mm6 gearset?

The CTS-V TR6060 is a valid core for an MM6 TR6060 build. It and the GT500 are more work than the Magnum to reach true F / GTO bolt-in status.

Thanks for the replies... I thought I needed one made for an Fbody... didn't realize that wasn't the case. I also didn't know they were as available as they are. I spoke w/ American Powertrain and it looks like they sell a close & wide range ratio T56 for GMs for $3,035. I think we'll end up going this route.
