Exclamation Pops out of reverse. HELP!!

This just started today, I went to back up in the drive way and when I put the shifter in reverse and let out the pedal, it grinds a little and then pops out into neutral. The only thing I can think of is yesterday, i was playing around with Mustang GT on the highway, and when I was trying to go to 5th it wouldn't go at all, just grinded. So I figured I was pushing to far over and was trying to go into reverse. Will that little bit of grinding cause my tranny to lose reverse or is it no that bad. Can I adjust the shifter to go deeper into reverse? HELP anyone.

Thanks in advance.

You most likely have a bad reverse synchronizer and/or gear.

Well, I tried it again after work when I got home and if you hold it in while you let off the pedal it works fine. If you just put in reverse, let go of the shifter, and let out, it pops out. What does this sound like?
