ive never had to shim a monster clutch ive never even measured one and ive used quite a few diff ones over the years.

LOL - Have you seen this thread? The instructions that came with my Monster Stage 2 say you should measure.....

thats the whole thing im trying to figure out. a way to rig up a measuring tool witth either a dial indicator or dial caliper, ALL in car...as many people that have meaasured it, someone has to have a decent, repeatable way to measure it.

I provided pics earlier, but it is a bit difficult to align the butt end of the digital caliper with the straight-edge.

If you're really that obsessed with measuring something that shouldnt need measured...and even worse, whilst it is all bolted together in the vehicle...

Get a cheapo USB camera, drill a hole somewhere and just look inside.

But really...anything you could ever want to measure, you can measure with the box/trans apart, with ease.

yea, im thinking a smaller carpenter's square and some spring clamps will work. now i just need to quit being lazy and pull the trans and get to work...

This comment is not from experience. I have only used/am using a 4l80 for high horsepower but am researching and trying to convince myself to try a T56 next build. Why not get a bellhousing with an inspection window so you can slip in a feeler gauge while someone is depressing the clutch so you can check for disengagement and over extension at the same time? Browell will make one to your specs.
