Default Any Luck with Centerforce dual friction?

My 98 Z28 is in need of clutch and trans overhaul. I beat on this car regularly, dragracing mainly. Run 13.2 's at 106+, stock with street tires. I put lakewood traction bars and BF G Drag radials. Smoked the clutch first pass. Thanks

i have a full bolt on car and my centerforce works fine. very driveable and grips good. if you dont plan on doing much to your car in a short period of time this clutch should work fine.

Plans include headers, off road y-pipe, 1.7 rockers and maybe n2o. How well do you think it would hold with these up grades.

WHATEVER YOU DO DO NOT GET A CENTERFORCE CLUTCH FOR AN LS1.

Do a search in here and you will see, like 1 out every 20 people it has worked for..98 percent that have tried one of those POS clutches have blown it up right away, myself included.

mine made it 200 miles and then 1 track pass and it was toast. those clutches are good for nothing but anchoring your boat with.

I went to the Spec Stage 3i and billet flywheel and I can't say enough good things about it, don't wast your time with Centerforce.

I heard many complaints about the Centerforce clutch but was very familiar with the clutch in old cars so I decided to try it in my 02 SS. It has worked great from day one and has been in the car for almost a year now. The car has 418rwhp and has been to the track several times. I am happy!

Good Advise.

I've got a Ram clutch with the 910 disk, and i have no complaints with it. It will hold anything that you throw at it.

At the track I typically launch at 6600(rev limiter) on the motor, and 5800-6200 on N2O spraying at least 150 shot out of the hole with another 50-100 shot about 30 feet out.

The only downside is the clutch has a sweet spot when driving it on the street. If you don't hit it, it will chatter a little. You'll get use to it pretty quick.

i had one, only complaint was the disengagement at high rpms but i would attribute some of that to the shitty hydralics. i ran the centerforce with bolt ons. i just bought a new spec 3 for my new setup though

i ran a dual friction center force for amost 2 years with many 6000 rpm 150 shot nitrous launches.
had no problem with it at all. just my .02

i wouldnt worry about it for a bolt on car.

I also had very good luck with my centerforce, it was actually more streetable than my current ram 910. The key to the centerforce is getting the adjustable master and making sure you are engaging/disengaging right. Its a very smooth clutch with no chatter. I would also get their flywheel too.

I had no problems with my Ceterforce clutch until I took it to the track and hit it with 150 shot, the car had 750 miles on it when I pulled it out and replaced it with a Ram VDS 910, I had the billet steel flywheel and throw out bearing from Centerforce to, the problem I had with Centerforce is they wont stand behind their product, I sent it in to them with proof of purchase showing them that the clutch was only 20 days old, I also showed them the receipt that it was profesionally installed, and they refused to make it right, they told me that it never seated, probally due to the installers riding it up onto the car lift, I was like WTF, and he asked me if I sprayed with it and I told him yes, but only after the 500 mile city driving break in and he said that the clutch is only 90% street, and 10% race ready, but thats not what was told to me in the begining, it was supose to be rated for 650 RWHP, I too have had wonderfull results with Centerforce Clutches in the past on older model cars, but not with the LS1 and silly gas, but before the Nitrous was ran through it, it was smooth as hell with no chatter, I believe that if you go with Centerforce you might be ok if you do the adjustable master, drill mod, and up grade your Hydralics if necessary, something that RAM tell you is a must, but Centerforce doesn't mention at all, but if you are going this way, don't buy the Billet steel flywheel, it cost almost $300.00, I've got mine with only 750 miles on it that I will sell you real cheap, all it needs is to be resurfaced a little, the guy at Centerforce that I dealt with on this matter was Dick Hill in case you want to confirm this.

The trick to get it to disengage properly at high rpms is to remove the centrifigul weights on the pressure plate fingers. That and use an adjustable master cylinder.
