ls6/ls7 clutch kit?
#22
Save your money and get a good clutch. I had the LS7 clutch in my 00 Camaro and it was noticeably slower. It's quite a bit heavier than the stock clutch/flywheel combo. Adding weight to an already heavy combo is no good especially for someone who wants to road race. Mantic ER2 is a nice choice IMO. The entire kit is under $800.

Mainly concerned about reliability. I've only tracked the car once with soft launches as I learned and it is mainly street driven. I guess we can wait to see what the OP says but I guess it really does not matter considering how much these have been talked about..........decisions decisions.......

So I've been driving around on it for about a day. The pressure plate has a lot of force. It feels like there is a spring attached to the pedal. The clutch itself feels kinda numb but that's probably cuz it's brand new. I'm gonna dial back my tick master cylinder and see if that makes a difference

By numb I mean that it's hard to feel the engagement through the pedal. It's most likely because it's so new and I probably have my tick master cylinder pushing too much fluid

Give this thread a read I started. It's long as hell but tons of good information.

Update 2: got the master cylinder adjusted the best I could. Clutch feels nice and linear. Engagement is about from 1/2 pedal travel to about a couple of cm from the top with full engagement around 2/3 up the pedal. No slippage or any issues so far. Will update after some performance driving after the 500 mile break in

I don't no the hate for the ls7. I ran one for years after putting up with a spec 3 and 3+, This was on a H/C combo. The twins are great for big power and a sticky tire but I really liked the drivability of the Ls7.

Right on, I guess with so many opinions flying around I should just ask the two questions that are going to help me decide which way to go. I had to pull the trans a couple of years ago due to dropping a 10mm socket in the bell housing while trying to bleed the clutch hydraulics and noticed that I do have a Luk clutch in there from the previous owner. I'm wondering if I'm already running an LS7 and the pressure plate is my main issue with the dead pedal (see below). I might track this car once or twice a year and will not be dumping the clutch, just having fun.
1. Will I be pleased with this clutch having a full bolton LS1 Fbody with just a cam in the future, a hot cam at that. I want to make sure it will last and I know that the weight of an F-body is a concern. I'm full weight with a sub and plenty of sound deadening installed.
2. Will this hopefully solve my dead pedal issue (I've read up extensively on this). I've got a TMC already and plan on doing my slave when the clutch is done. While the TMC did help a bunch I'm still getting a dead pedal on the 3-4 shift, not as bad as it was with the factory MC but still a concern.
I know this pic may not help but any way to identify this?
EDIT: looking at the pressure plate it looks to be an LS1/LS6 style and not LS7.

I have ls6 heads and cam and 40lbs injectors in my ss and I'm putting around 375 hp to the wheels and the luk pro gold is so far fantastic. Shifts are really smooth, no chatter , no clutch slip thus far
