Should I rebuild my transmission?

Should I rebuild my transmission?
So my T56 has seen better days. It's started popping out of second and fourth when cold on occasion, and i've got a pretty nasty clunk that is either u-joint related or syncro related.
to top it all off, I have no experience working on a transmission, automatic or manual. I'm looking to build a 450rwhp motor, and want a driveline that can handle it. So for the unexperienced, how hard would it be to install say, Thegearbox's Stage 2 rebuild kit? Or would I be better of shelling out the extra dough to have Tick do it? I'm a pretty quick learner, but I don't want this to become something where I pull it apart and am unable to put it back together.
Also last question, I know an extra-long gear puller is needed and that most people fabricate their own, but as long as I'm not installing new gears or bearings I won't need a press correct?
Thanks

Building a transmission is very difficult and a strenuous job. I did it on my own and had the thing a complete mess. Finally just decided to take it down to a shop and got it fully rebuilt. The running total was 4 grand. All depends on what you want and how much you are willing to spend. Goodluck.
